Katy engine facility |
Description: |
The MKT engine facility at San Antonio Texas was a treasure of clutter, grease and odd equipment that undoubtedly dated from the age of steam. GP38AC 327 retains its former ICG paint while the GP7 (123) and caboose sitting behind are in the road's late "John Deere" green scheme. |

MKT GP38AC 327 |
Description: |
The Katy ran a pretty colorful mix of power towards the end; the paint indicates the Geep's former life as IC/ICG 9502. |

MKT GP38AC 327 |
Description: |
Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad GP38AC 327 at Cotter, Arkansas on October 25, 1990, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. This is MKT's minimalist paint scheme as applied to former ICG 9502, built in February 1970 ( c/n 35667 ). The purple paint is remeniscent of the first Auto-Train. The IC/ICG leased 20 GP38AC's ( #'s 9500-9519 ) under the usual 15 year arrangement. When the lease expired in 1985, most were picked up by the MKT. This particular unit went on to become UP 1984/1785, then AERC 2001. |

MKT GP38AC 327 |
Description: |
Missouri–Kansas–Texas Railroad (reporting mark MKT) GP38AC 327 (ex-IC/ICG 9502) at Cotter, Arkansas on October 25, 1990, Kodachrome by Chuck Zeiler. Nice eyeballs on this locomotive; I was tempted to Photoshop some pupils in them (Sleepy, Happy, Dopey...), but I'll leave that to the viewer. |
