The red warning light is lit, I'm not sure how it worked on the C&O, but on the CB&Q, the red warning light came on automatically with an emergency brake application. Sometimes hostlers would park a locomotive with an emergency brake application, to ensure that the locomotive didn't move, and to blow out the system. |
