Mason Soliday General Two classes of GP38s. NS had 6 classes of GP38s. The first two classes, which were straight GP38s, ranged from 2716-2822 and 2879-2886, although 2799 was destroyed in a head-on collision in 1990, and 2752 was burned shortly after being rebuilt into 5531. The next two classes are the GP38ACs, ranging from SOU 2823-2878, and NW 4100-4159, although 4110 was retired early in its career for a missing reason (my guess is that it was retired after an accident). Then comes four NW GP38-2s, ranging from 4160-4163. And finally, the major class of Southern GP38-2s ranging from 5200-5256, although 5021, 5022, and 5023 were burned after hitting a tanker truck in 1987, 5037 was scrapped in 2020 after hitting a covered hopper car in 2016, 5133 and 5251 were retired before 2002 for missing reasons (my guess is that both of these were involved in separate accidents and were written off), 5197 was damaged in another collision sometime before 1999, and 5234 was totaled in a rear-end collision in 2001. 6/17/2023 11:58:26 AM
Mason Soliday General Additional note on 5197: The damages on 5197 looked eerily similar to the damages on 5037. 6/17/2023 12:00:23 PM
