| Between 2010 and 2013 Transnet Freight Rail placed seventy-six Class 15E 50 kV AC 50 Hz heavy electric freight locomotives with a Co*Co wheel arrangement in service on the Sishen–Saldanha iron ore line, numbered in the range from 15-001 to 15-076. The locomotive is the product of a joint venture by Mitsui 'design), Toshiba (electrical components), DCD-Dorbyl’s RSD division (monoblock cast frame, bolster bogies and drawgear), and Union Carriage and Wagon (bodies and assembly).See also the Wikipedia article on the South African Class 15E. |
