Waiting for the Train
c1885(?) Holeb was a wide space in the track on the Canadian Pacific back in its day. My map shows a couple of sidings at a location called Holeb which is about a mile west of this scene beside Holeb Pond looking eastbound. Today this track is operated by the Central Maine & Quebec & prior to that the MMA. Close inspection shows several sports and guide lakeside around the canoes. The station platform shows 4 waiting passengers and some baggage. It was common to take water transportation to sporting camps up and down the waterways of Maine from a RR stop. The CP, The MEC, and The BAR all advertised these connections and destination businesses. This scan of an old commerical cabnet photo was printed to advertise The Woods of Maine and was avalible as a Lantern Slide or enlargement upon request by E.R.Starbird of Brunswick, Me. /DL
