Amtrak 763 pushes the Southwest Chief into the station, as a Conrail SW works the Post Office. The SDP40Fs were common power on western trains, though they were being steadily replaced by F 40s. The SDP40Fs had problems on a couple of western roads, most notably SP, for tracking issues and derailments. The Santa Fe didnt seem to have these problems, however, and did not restrict them. ATSF had experience with this type power, as it had FP 45s on its passenger trains, and seemed to know how to run them without incident.
