AMTK 937, AEM7, 1989
Amtrak. Here is an original 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Larchmont, New York, during May of 1989. Shown here (L to R) is AMTK engine #937 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. Both are AEM7's built by GM-EMD and rated at 7,000 horsepower each. #937 was constructed in November of 1981. They are racing through the Larchmont Passenger Station on Track #4 with a train headed for New Haven and points North. Visible on the right is a portion of catenary stanchion #109. On the far left is a portion of the yellow-stuccoed Brompton Apartment building, where I've lived since 1 September 1977!
