CN 4705
A CN local approaches the station sign and Lande St. as it heads northeast with 5 cars via former C&NW rails at De Pere, WI, on 26 Oct. '19. I'm not sure why the station sign stands here, the depot stood at Grant St., about 2,500' to the north. This portion of De Pere was originally West De Pere until 1890.

Tom Beckett General I have found in the era of demolished depots, stations, as indicated by signs, are not always where the original buildings stood. I'm sure there are many reasons for this, but I have a feeling it may have to do with a business that is served, or that there's a yard nearby the original station site, which no longer exists, that now serves as the "station" for that place. There are probably other reasons I'm not aware of relating to operating issues as well. 10/28/2019 2:35:17 AM
