Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Passenger Station in Englewood, Illinois, on 1 March 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5501, a T-1 (4-4-4-4) "Duplex" built in Juniata during November of 1945 and retired in December of 1953 after just eight years of revenue service. Note the New York Central passenger car at the far right. The race to Gotham City has begun! Gary Mittner Collection. |
