Description:
A N&W eastbound freight on the former Nickel Plate passes State Line tower, crossing the Monon and B&OCT. N&W 1753 led an interesting life, becoming NS and then VMVX 1753, Springfield Terminal 679, then being rebuilt by M-K to SP SD40M-2 8681, later UP 2757. Date of photo approximate.

Waiting to get in
Description:
Lack of yard space sometimes made it necessary for trains to be parked outside the yard. This BFOA is on Conrail track 3 waiting for space in the yard. A yard crew will come out and get it when theres room. NS power was typical.

Hi hood classics
Description:
I dont usually shoot mid consist power, but these NW SD45s were becoming rare, and too good to resist. They were in the consist of BFOA that was parked on track 4 waiting for yard space. Dont recall at this point-almost 30 years later-if they were running or dead in tow. Nice to think they might still be working.
