The 1918 was retired in April 1984, during a mass retirement of MP GP18's, traded-in to General Electric, and subsequently scrapped.

Description:  Missouri Pacific bicentennial geeps 1776 and 1976, along with MP15DC 1554, had just brought an eastbound transfer run across the HUEY P. LONG BRIDGE, and were now shoving their train into the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad's EAST BRIDGE YARD, where the cars would be picked up by the Southern Railway. The orange car on the right was the NOPB's fire car for the bridge.
