Beautiful iconic winter scene of Grand Trunk Western/Canadian National 2-8-2 Mikado 3#406 working as a helper on a cold winter day. The steam plume above the loco is impressive. History - Alco-Schenectady, 1913, serial #52789, nee-GT 501, GTR class M, later renumbered CNR/GTW 3406 in 1923 - some confusion whether it still carried the GTW logo. The loco was scrapped in November of 1959. This is a G.C. Corey photo |

Description: |
BWCX. Here is the fifth of five original photos that I took at the Berwind-White Railroad Car Shops in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 21 July 1961. Shown here is the steam locomotive called "Nancy." In this context, the hose at the left indicates that the Brakeman is topping-off the locomotive's water tank. Visible at the right is the original wooden Car Shop. At the left is the original wooden Machine Shop. |

Description: |
BWCX. Here is an original 35mm color slide that I took at the Berwind-White Railroad Car Shops in Hollidaysburg, Pennsylvania, on 26 May 1964. Shown here is the Vulcan 0-4-0T steam locomotive named "Nancy." The builder's badge specifies "Vulcan Locomotive Works ~ 1918." Since its driving wheels kept coming loose from the axles, it was finally "put out to pasture" after 46 years of faithful service! |
